New Beginnings

I have a good feeling about Cal basketball 2005-2006.
Watched the game on the webcast.

Disappointed at first that Powe would not be playing, but a smart move by Ben Braun. Ubaka looked great, so did Omar Wilkes. Harden played tough.

Seems that this year's team will have a lot of depth.

Most have Cal picked to finish 5th in the Pac, but I like them to finish at least 4th behind Arizona, UCLA, and some other team. Stanford is getting a lot of love for returning Hernandez, among others. But I have a feeling Cal will be able to take one from the Cardinal [likely at Haas].

You can't tell much about a team, when they play D-II Humboldt State, but it's nice to get a blowout win before the season starts. Build up the confidence.

I really liked seeing Omar in the open floor. I could have sworn he was grinning after one of his lay-ups.

Tonight's game reminded me of an RSF pick-up game where one team knew it was a cut above the other. That kind of confidence makes you play better, harder, and more relaxed.

If Cal can get a quick 2-possession lead over Stanford, the same thing should happen during the Big Game this weekend. I haven't seen Stanford play much this year, but I know this Cal team has a lot of pride. It'll be nice for Cal fans to party in Vegas.
